Operates computerized tomography equipment to produce films of designated portions of the human body for neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients.
Collects pertinent medical information and reviews physician’s order to identify reason for examination and potential contraindications.
Explains procedure to patient and ensures consent form is signed if required for examination.
Positions patient and administers oral or intravenous contrast as required. Monitors patient reaction and responds to adverse reactions with emergency procedures as necessary.
Selects equipment parameters and logs pertinent information.
Performs scanning procedure. Modifies parameters as required to improve visualization of desired anatomy.
Organizes images, performs the scan and transfers exam to PACS system.
Aids with transportation of patients to and from Emergency Room and Inpatient areas.
Responsible for ensuring communication to radiologist regarding Acute Stroke patients and certifying compliance with Acute Stroke protocols.
Enters patient charges into computer.
Monitors equipment for functionality and performance. Refers noted problems to the CT Supervisor.
Assists in orienting and training personnel as necessary.
Practices proper safety techniques in accordance with hospital and departmental policies and procedures. Immediately reports any mechanical or electrical equipment malfunctions, unsafe conditions, or employee/patient/visitor injury‑accident to Manager.
