“I love the way Northside helps their employees reach a healthy work/life balance,” Niecy says. “It’s not all work and no fun. For example, one great thing the employees love is Northside Night at the fair in Cumming, Georgia. On opening night, all Northside employees get in free and can ride the rides as much as they want.”
We know that it’s important to have “me-time” away from work to recharge and decompress, which is why we give our team plenty of opportunities for time off. Niecy describes herself as an introvert, so with her free time, she enjoys relaxing at home, binge-watching shows, or reading a good book. When she wants to have a day outside, she likes to go hiking and explore places she hasn’t hiked before. “I usually go hiking with a coworker who knows a lot of the good spots that have great scenery like waterfalls, which I love,” Niecy explains.
Family is also something we take seriously, and we’re happy that our employees have time to spend with their loved ones. Niecy and her daughter enjoy ordering out seafood, their favorite, and watching good movies together. “It doesn’t get any better than that!” Niecy says. Another pastime Niecy enjoys is working out at the gym, which she usually does in the morning before work. “There are times in the evening, though, when I get to work out with my partner in crime, my daughter.”
Something that goes hand-in-hand with work-life balance is employee appreciation, which we as a Northside family are passionate about. We celebrate Surgical Services Week, where we recognize our employees with gifts, treats, breakfasts, and lunches that are served to them by leaders and management.
We also look after our employees’ health through efforts like breast cancer awareness and cancer screening. “Also, during flu season, there’s always a cart floating around for the convenience of employees to get their seasonal flu shot,” Niecy adds. “They look out for our well-being and make sure that as we take care of others, they in turn take care of us. Northside knows how to show appreciation to their employees, and not many people can say that about their employers. I’m proud to say that about mine.”
